Paul Perez is a Trenton native and product of the Trenton Public Schools System. Very proud of his home town and military service, Paul retired from the United States Army after 20 years of service and is a veteran of Operation Just Cause, and Operations Desert Shield/Storm.
Paul has more than 27 years of experience in devising strategies and policies to ensure that an organization meets its goals and priorities. He has been part of senior leadership, and accountable for the outcomes of several public and private agency programs and initiatives.
As a member of the Federal Government Senior Executive Service, Paul served as the Division Director of the Division of Administrative Services at the National Science Foundation where he received the Directors Award for Collaborative Integration, and the Directors Commendation for Dedicated Service – Visionary Leadership. Paul led complex administrative operations in areas including budget preparation and management, information technology services, logistics, human capital, contracts and procurement, governance and policy formation, and evaluating and building infrastructure.
Paul also has in-depth government experience working with the federal budget process and life cycle and the federal procurement process, and has played a major role in the strategic and emergency management strategy for business and continuity of operations planning.
Paul’s previous assignments within the federal government include Protection Security Adviser, Department of Homeland Security, San Juan, Puerto Rico, Director of Personnel Security and Access Control, National Institute of Health, Bethesda, MD and Director, Division of Administrative Services, The Export Import Bank of the United States, Washington DC.
Paul is currently the President of his own company, PZ Energy and Electric Consulting, which has provided work to a number of Trenton residents as a contracted workforce.
Paul and his wife, Janet, are the co-founders of Partnerships for Trenton, which is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization that connects people and resources in Trenton. The PFT has successful partnerships with the Trenton Public Schools, seniors, and several other groups to bring awareness and support to the community. Paul is the former Vice President of the Latino Leadership Alliance of New Jersey and a member of the Board of Directors, Special Parent Advocacy Group of New Jersey.
Paul holds a B.A. from Excelsior College and completed the Key Executive Program at American University and the Harvard Kennedy School Senior Executive Fellows Program and is a Board Certified Protection Professional with ASIS International.
He holds a myriad of training certificates that have supplemented his knowledge base, and is a certified contracting officer representative in procurement negotiations. Paul was a member of the Union Management Relations Board at the National Science Foundation.
Paul has dedicated his life to his family, wife Janet, two sons Paul Jr and Steven and has four beautiful grandchildren.
Paul recently ran a historic race as a candidate for Mayor, City of Trenton.
